This paper is concerned with properties of the Mullineux map, which plays a rôle in p-modular representation theory of symmetric groups. We introduce the residue symbol for a p-regular partitions, a variation of the Mullineux symbol, which makes the detection and removal of good nodes (as introduced by Kleshchev) in the partition easy to describe. Applications of this idea include a short proof of the combinatorial conjecture to which the Mullineux conjecture had been reduced by Kleshchev.  相似文献

We report about X-ray and magnetic investigations on polycrystalline alloys with hexagonal C14 (MgZn2) structure of the system TixFe100−x in the concentration range 30.5x36.5 around the Laves-phase composition TiFe2 (Ti33.3Fe66.6). Neighboring compositions Fe50Ti50 (with B2 structure) and Ti15Fe85 and Ti20Fe80 (with BCC structure) have also been investigated. From the data we establish a magnetic phase diagram for the C14 range of the system, showing a rather sharp transition from mainly ferromagnetic ordering in the range x<32 to a mainly antiferromagnetic ordering in the range x>32. The results can be made plausible microscopically by taking the site dependence of the moments into account. A revised structural equilibrium phase diagram is also given.  相似文献

We study flat flag-transitive c.c *-geometries. We prove that, apart from one exception related to Sym(6), all these geometries are gluings in the meaning of [6]. They are obtained by gluing two copies of an affine space over GF(2). There are several ways of gluing two copies of the n-dimensional affine space over GF(2). In one way, which deserves to be called the canonical one, we get a geometry with automorphism group G = 22n · L n(2) and covered by the truncated Coxeter complex of type D 2 n . The non-canonical ways give us geometries with smaller automorphism group (G ≤ 22n · (2 n?1)n) and which seldom (never ?) can be obtained as quotients of truncated Coxeter complexes.  相似文献

The solubility isotherm of the three-component system Yb2O3-SeO2-H2O at 100°C was studied. There are two fields of crystallization in the solubility diagram at this temperature - a small one of Yb2(SeO3)3·4H2O and a large one of YbH(SeO3)2·2H2O. These compounds were identified by the Schreinemakers' method, and by chemical and X-ray analyses as well. Simultaneous TG and DTA curves of the two compounds obtained were made and the mechanism of the thermal decomposition was described. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

A conservative semi‐Lagrangian method is designed in order to solve linear advection equations in two space variables. The advection scheme works with finite volumes on an unstructured mesh, which is given by a Voronoi diagram. Moreover, the mesh is subject to adaptive modifications during the simulation, which serves to effectively combine good approximation quality with small computational costs. The required adaption rules for the refinement and the coarsening of the mesh rely on a customized error indicator. The implementation of boundary conditions is addressed. Numerical results finally confirm the good performance of the proposed conservative and adaptive advection scheme. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Schubert polynomials were introduced in the context of the geometry of flag varieties. This paper investigates some of the connections not yet understood between several combinatorial structures for the construction of Schubert polynomials; we also present simplifications in some of the existing approaches to this area. We designate certain line diagrams for permutations known as rc-graphs as the main structure. The other structures in the literature we study include: semistandard Young tableaux, Kohnert diagrams, and balanced labelings of the diagram of a permutation. The main tools in our investigation are certain operations on rc-graphs, which correspond to the coplactic operations on tableaux, and thus define a crystal graph structure on rc-graphs; a new definition of these operations is presented. One application of these operations is a straightforward, purely combinatorial proof of a recent formula (due to Buch, Kresch, Tamvakis, and Yong), which expresses Schubert polynomials in terms of products of Schur polynomials. In spite of the fact that it refers to many objects and results related to them, the paper is mostly self-contained.  相似文献
